French Ambassador to Bangladesh Jean-Marc Sere-Charlet has called for a "fair and level playing field" to attract more European investment, emphasizing that a transparent business climate is key to deepening economic ties.

The envoy made these remarks during a courtesy call on Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam Rita at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Monday.

The high-level meeting, which also included State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M. Rashiduzzaman Millat, focused on expanding the strategic partnership between France and the newly formed government.

Discussions centered on trade, investment, and the rapidly evolving aviation sector, where France remains a primary development partner.

Ambassador Séré-Charlet highlighted the successful collaboration between the French technology giant Thales and the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB).

He specifically pointed to the operational transition of the nationwide Air Traffic Management System at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport as a milestone in bilateral technical cooperation.

The Ambassador also reaffirmed the commitment of Airbus to bolster Bangladesh’s aviation ecosystem.

He noted that a long-term partnership with the European aerospace leader would not only increase fleet capacity but also signal Bangladesh's intent to align with European Union (EU) standards.

"With its strategic location between South and Southeast Asia, Bangladesh has immense potential to emerge as a regional aviation hub," the envoy stated.

He reiterated that France is ready to work closely with the current administration to unlock these opportunities through sustainable infrastructure and policy reforms.
