European Union (EU) Ambassador to Bangladesh Michael Miller paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Monday, signaling a renewed commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the EU and the newly formed administration.

The high-level meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s Office within the Bangladesh Secretariat, where Ambassador Miller led a specialized EU delegation to discuss a wide range of bilateral interests.

According to an official release from the PMO, the discussions centered on deepening cooperation in key sectors, including trade, democratic governance, and regional stability.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman emphasized the importance of the EU as a vital development partner for Bangladesh, particularly as the country undergoes significant structural reforms.

The two leaders explored ways to enhance the existing partnership to meet the evolving needs of the 13th Parliament’s executive agenda.

The meeting was also attended by Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman and the Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser, Humaiun Kobir.

Their presence underscored the strategic weight of the dialogue, which aimed to align Bangladesh’s foreign policy goals with European standards for investment and human rights.

Both sides expressed optimism about the future of the relationship, noting that continued engagement would be essential for navigating the complex geopolitical landscape of South Asia.
