Dhaka and Islamabad Move to Strengthen Industrial Ties and Bilateral Trade

Bangladesh and Pakistan have expressed a shared commitment to strengthening industrial cooperation and expanding bilateral trade following a high-level diplomatic meeting on Tuesday.

Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Imran Haider, met with Industries Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir at the Ministry of Industries to discuss a wide range of mutual interests, specifically focusing on trade, investment, and cross-border industrial partnerships.

During the discussions, Minister Muktadir highlighted the significant potential for joint initiatives to enhance the existing economic relationship between the two South Asian nations.

He specifically emphasized the need for increased cooperation in key sectors such as sugar, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and the leather industry.

The Minister noted that creating a collaborative framework in these areas would not only boost trade volumes but also allow both countries to leverage their respective industrial strengths.

The Pakistani envoy praised the rapid progress of Bangladesh’s industrial sector and its increasingly investment-friendly environment.

High Commissioner Haider expressed a strong interest in encouraging Pakistani entrepreneurs to explore investment opportunities within Bangladesh, stressing the importance of fostering direct communication and partnerships between the business communities of both nations.

The meeting concluded with both sides agreeing on the necessity of sustained dialogue to unlock new economic potential, with Industries Secretary Md. Obaidur Rahman and other senior officials from the ministry and the High Commission in attendance.
