Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim extended a formal invitation to Bangladesh’s newly elected Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to visit Malaysia at a mutually convenient time.

The invitation was delivered today during a high-level meeting between the Malaysian Premier and Bangladesh's Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment, Ariful Haque Chowdhury, at the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya.

The meeting was also attended by the Prime Minister's Adviser Mahdi Amin and the Bangladesh High Commissioner to Malaysia.

According to an official release, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim opened the session by offering warm congratulations to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on his election.

He notably praised Rahman’s "long struggle to restore democracy" and expressed his admiration for the ongoing progress within Bangladesh.

During the exchange, Adviser Mahdi Amin presented a special letter from the Bangladeshi Prime Minister along with personal greetings.

The discussions focused heavily on labor market cooperation, with both nations reaffirming a joint commitment to overhaul recruitment processes.

Both parties pledged to ensure a "transparent, fair, and efficient recruitment system" designed specifically to prevent the exploitation of migrant workers.

Beyond labor issues, the leaders explored avenues to enhance bilateral trade and investment, expressing a shared interest in deepening economic engagement.

The dialogue also touched upon the education sector, with proposals for teacher exchange programs and academic collaborations aimed at strengthening people-to-people ties between the two Muslim-majority nations.

The meeting concluded with both sides expressing "satisfaction with the current excellent state of bilateral relations" and a mutual pledge to expand cooperation across various strategic sectors.
