The Jatiya Sangsad on Friday passed 10 additional bills, successfully converting several ordinances promulgated during the interim government into permanent laws.

The bills were passed unanimously via voice vote during the morning sitting of the 13th day of the current parliamentary session. Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, presided over the session.

The legislative process was notably swift, as no amendment proposals were submitted for the individual clauses, resulting in a unanimous passage without floor discussion.

The move is part of a larger legislative effort to formalize 133 ordinances issued by the previous interim administration.

A parliamentary special committee, which reviewed these ordinances, had previously recommended the approval of 98 bills in their original form and 15 in an amended format.

Of the remaining 20 ordinances, the committee recommended the repeal of four and the introduction of 16 others in a strengthened legislative form.

Among the key legislations, Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher moved five development-focused bills: the Narayanganj, Barishal, Mymensingh, Cumilla and Rangpur Development Authority Bills, 2026.

In the financial sector, Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury successfully moved three significant pieces of legislation: the Deposit Protection Bill, the Excises and Salt Bill, and the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty (Amendment) Bill, 2026.

Additionally, Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury oversaw the passage of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (Amendment) Bill, 2026, while Environment, Forests and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo presented the Bangladesh Forest Industries Development Corporation Bill, 2026, which also received unanimous approval.
