Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman distributed ‘Family Cards’ to 911 beneficiaries during a program held at the Shaheed Zia Degree College ground in the Bagbari area of Gabtoli upazila on Monday afternoon.

The event was marked by a moment of patriotic fervor, as the party anthem, "Prothom Bangladesh Amar, Shesh Bangladesh," was played.

The Prime Minister, accompanied by his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, stood in respect and joined the choir, alongside Social Welfare Minister AZM Zahid Hossain and various party leaders and supporters in attendance.

The ‘Family Card’ initiative was officially rolled out by the Prime Minister in Dhaka on March 10, serving as a core component of the BNP government’s election pledge to enhance the living standards of citizens through the empowerment of women.

According to the government’s plan, these cards are issued specifically in the name of the mother or the female head of the family.

Under the current pilot scheme, the government aims to reach 37,567 female-headed families across 14 upazilas by this June. Through this welfare program, each eligible family is set to receive a monthly allowance of BDT 2,500.

Furthermore, the government has announced a long-term vision to evolve these Family Cards into universal social ID cards by the year 2030.
