Germany Keen to Boost Cooperation in Bangladesh’s Water Resource Management

Germany has expressed strong interest in collaborating with Bangladesh to enhance water resource management and environmental protection.

The interest was conveyed by German Ambassador to Dhaka, Rudiger Lotz, during a courtesy call on Water Resources Minister Md Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee at his ministry office today (on Monday).

During the meeting, the two officials engaged in detailed discussions on several issues of mutual interest, specifically focusing on the strategic management of water resources in both nations, the sustainable utilization of surface and groundwater, and the shared challenges posed by climate change.

Acknowledging Germany as a key development partner, Minister Anee sought Berlin’s technical and strategic cooperation to address critical issues in Bangladesh, including river pollution prevention, flood management, and the mitigation of waterlogging.

The meeting was also attended by Water Resources Secretary Dr. AKM Shahabuddin and the Head of Development at the German Embassy, Ulich Klepmann.
