The mortal remains of Nahida Sultana Brishti, a Bangladeshi student at the University of South Florida who was tragically killed in the United States, have been dispatched to Bangladesh following the completion of all necessary legal formalities.

According to a press release from the Consulate General of Bangladesh in Miami, her body was sent from Orlando International Airport in Florida on Thursday evening, traveling via Dubai.

The remains are scheduled to arrive in Dhaka at 8:40 am on Saturday (Bangladesh time).

The repatriation follows the official identification of the body by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office on May 1.

Since then, the Embassy of Bangladesh in Washington, D.C., and the Consulate General in Miami have worked in close coordination with Brishti’s family, university authorities, the local Bangladeshi expatriate community in Tampa and relevant law enforcement agencies to expedite all legal procedures.

Earlier, on Wednesday, a namaz-e-janaza for the deceased was held after Zuhr prayers at the Islamic Society of Tampa Bay Area mosque.

The funeral service was attended by students from the University of South Florida, officials from the Bangladesh Consulate General in Miami, media representatives and members of the local Bangladeshi community, who gathered to pay their final respects.
