The Bangladesh Pavilion has emerged as the premier international attraction at the '2nd South Asian Trade Fair 2026' in Kathmandu, highlighting the nation's rising export capabilities and its deepening trade footprint across the South Asian market.
Officially inaugurated on Thursday at the Bhrikuti Mandap Exhibition Hall in the Nepalese capital, the pavilion was established with financial backing from the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) and under the direct supervision of the Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal Md. Shafiqur Rahman inaugurated the pavilion as the chief guest, joined by senior Nepalese government officials, diplomats, and prominent business leaders.
During the ceremony, which drew a significant number of Nepalese visitors, the ambassador noted that the country's extensive participation reflects its growing status as a regional economic force and its increasing competitiveness in global trade.
The pavilion features 24 Bangladeshi companies showcasing a diverse array of export-oriented goods, including readymade garments (RMG), leather products, jute items, handicrafts, and apparel.
To further bolster trade promotion and support potential investors and buyers, the EPB has set up a dedicated information booth within the pavilion.
According to officials, this strategic participation aims to enhance the global reputation of the "Made in Bangladesh" brand while identifying new export avenues within the region.
As part of the five-day fair, the organizers have scheduled several commercial programs, such as business-to-business (B2B) meetings, trade body consultations, sourcing dinners, and seminars designed to explore market opportunities in Nepal.
Jointly organized by the Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) and Introduction Trade Shows Nepal, the '2nd South Asian Trade Fair 2026' will remain open to the public daily from 10:30 am to 6:30 pm until it concludes on May 11.
