The Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal, Md. Shofiqur Rahman, conducted an extensive lecture and interactive session on Bangladesh’s foreign policy and bilateral relations with Nepal at the Nepal Army Command and Staff College in Shivapuri, Kathmandu.

During the 90-minute session, the Ambassador detailed the origins, evolution, and current priorities of Bangladesh’s foreign policy. He highlighted the nation's international engagement and its contributions to global peace and security within the context of a rapidly changing global landscape.

Ambassador Rahman emphasized the "Bangladesh First" policy—a recent strategic addition to the current government's foreign policy framework. He specifically outlined the focus on economic diplomacy, climate change leadership, diaspora engagement, and the maintenance of a strategic balance with global and regional powers.

Addressing bilateral ties, the Ambassador discussed the growing cooperation between Bangladesh and Nepal in several critical sectors, most notably:

Strategic Power Cooperation: Energy trade and hydropower initiatives.

Education: Academic exchanges and student mobility.

Defense: Strengthening security and institutional collaboration.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment with the course participants. Major General Shakti Jung Basnet, Commandant of the college, welcomed the Ambassador and expressed his gratitude for the comprehensive presentation.

The ongoing course at the Nepal Army Command and Staff College includes 92 participants. Among them are four international students from Bangladesh, India, China, and the United States.
