The Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu, in collaboration with the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) of Bangladesh, hosted a dinner this evening at the Kathmandu Marriott Hotel.

The event was held in honor of prominent Nepali business leaders and Bangladeshi entrepreneurs participating in the South Asia Trade Fair 2026.

The gathering was attended by top leaders from Nepal’s business community, representatives from leading chambers such as FNCCI, NCC, and NFTA, as well as entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, diplomats and Bangladeshi exhibitors.

A total of 24 Bangladeshi companies are participating in the trade fair, showcasing export-oriented products including ready-made garments (RMG), handicrafts, and jute-based products.

The evening commenced with an introductory session followed by remarks from distinguished Nepali business representatives.

Md. Shafiqur Rahman, the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal, addressed the guests, emphasizing the critical importance of strengthening bilateral trade, investment, and business connectivity between the two nations.

Ambassador Rahman highlighted Bangladesh's emergence as a competitive global hub for: Ready-made garments (RMG), Jute and jute products, Pharmaceuticals, Leather goods and textiles.

He further pointed out the immense potential for expanding economic cooperation in sectors such as agro-processing, energy, tourism, ICT, and frozen seafood.

The Ambassador noted that regional connectivity and trade facilities are improving through the use of land ports like Banglabandha, creating new avenues for business.

He reaffirmed the Embassy's commitment to providing all necessary support to the business communities of both countries.

A key highlight of the evening was a dedicated Business Networking Session, which provided a valuable platform for meaningful interactions between entrepreneurs and stakeholders from both sides.

Participants exchanged views on expanding bilateral trade, developing investment partnerships, and exploring new areas of regional economic cooperation.

Earlier in the day, a Business-to-Business (B2B) meeting was held at the Bangladesh Embassy premises.

This session allowed Bangladeshi exhibitors to engage directly with renowned Nepali entrepreneurs, fostering direct communication and exploring specific trade and investment opportunities.

The event concluded with a dinner, marking a successful day of dialogue aimed at fostering long-term collaboration and partnership between the business sectors of Bangladesh and Nepal.
