Dr. Zubaida Rahman, a renowned cardiologist and Vice President of the Ziaur Rahman Foundation, inaugurated the 'Shishu Swarga Model' program on Thursday, aimed at ensuring comprehensive healthcare and rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities.

Dr. Zubaida Rahman, the wife of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, attended the launching ceremony as the chief guest at the Korail slum in the capital.

The initiative has been undertaken by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to provide a specialized support system for children with special needs.

Prior to the formal inauguration, Dr. Zubaida Rahman visited various stalls at the venue that showcased educational materials and daily essentials designed specifically for children with special needs.

Addressing the gathering, State Minister for Health and Family Welfare MA Muhit spoke as the chief speaker, while the event featured several special guests, including State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam, State Minister for Planning Zonayed Abdur Rahim Saki, and State Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin.

Other notable speakers included the Prime Minister’s Adviser for Health Affairs SM Ziauddin Hyder and Ziaur Rahman Foundation (ZRF) Executive Director Professor Dr. Farhad Halim Donar.

The function was presided over by the Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Ministry, Md Quamruzzaman Chowdhury, with the Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Professor Dr. Pravath Chandra Biswas, also in attendance.

Furthermore, the seminar on the 'Shishu Swarga Model' included guests of honor such as the acting Representative of UNICEF in Bangladesh, Stanley Gwavuya, RAJUK Chairman Engineer Md Reazul Islam, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md Safiqul Islam Khan and the Prime Minister’s Assistant Personal Physician Dr. ANM Monowarul Kadir (Bitu).

Throughout the session, the speakers emphasized the critical importance of enhancing healthcare and rehabilitation services to empower persons with disabilities and integrate them more effectively into society.
