Prime Minister Tarique Rahman commenced his daily official schedule on Thursday by personally presenting job appointment letters to three individuals with physical disabilities, aiming to promote self-reliance and foster their integration into mainstream society.

The Prime Minister handed over the employment documents during a ceremony held at his Cabinet Division office inside the Bangladesh Secretariat this morning, according to Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Shiplu.

Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Shiplu explained that the appointments were granted to empower persons with disabilities through gainful employment, ensuring they can achieve financial independence and participate fully in societal affairs.

The three job recipients are Ayesha Akter from Gaibandha’s Saghata upazila, Neela Khatun from Kamarkhand upazila in Sirajganj, and Md Hasmat Ali hailing from Narail Sadar upazila.

Expressing overwhelming joy upon receiving their employment papers directly from the head of government, the recipients remarked that the occasion marked both the dawn of a new professional chapter and the realization of fresh personal aspirations.

Neela Khatun, who was born without upper limbs, completed her postgraduate degree by using her feet to write. She has been assigned as a teacher at the National Foundation for the Development of the Disabled located in Mirpur, Dhaka.

Ayesha Akter, who similarly earned her master’s degree by writing with her feet due to the absence of arms, accepted her appointment letter using her mouth. She has been appointed as a class supervisor at the BIAM Laboratory School and College in Gaibandha.

Meanwhile, Md Hasmat Ali, who is visually impaired, secured a position as a Union Social Worker under the Department of Social Services.

The event was attended by Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Adviser Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Farzana Sharmin Putul, Social Welfare Secretary Dr Mohammad Abu Yusuf, National Foundation for Development of the Disabled Persons (NFDD) Managing Director Md Tarikul Alam, and Department of Social Services Director General Shah Mohammad Mahbub, among other officials.

Abdus Sattar Dulal, founder of the Bangladesh Protibondhi Kalyan Somity, extended his gratitude to the Prime Minister for creating formal career opportunities for the three individuals.

Immediately following the handing-over ceremony, Dulal met with the Prime Minister to convey his appreciation in person, the Deputy Press Secretary added.
