President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman are scheduled to join hundreds of devotees from all walks of life to offer their Eid-ul-Azha prayers at the National Eidgah on Thursday morning.

The main Eid congregation will take place at 7:30 am at the National Eidgah ground, adjacent to the High Court premises.

The Head of State and the Prime Minister will offer their prayers and join the special munajat, which will be conducted by Mufti Muhammad Abdul Malek, the Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.

The munajat will seek divine blessings for the peace, progress, and prosperity of Bangladesh, as well as the welfare of its people and the global Muslim Ummah.

Following the prayers, the President will exchange festive greetings with the cross-section of people present at the venue.

The congregation is being organized under the supervision of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), which has made special arrangements for women devotees.

DSCC Administrator Valiant Freedom Fighter Md Abdus Salam noted that in case of inclement weather, the main jamaat will be shifted to the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 8 am.

Upon his arrival at the National Eidgah, the President will be welcomed by a delegation including the Chief Justice, cabinet members, the DSCC administrator, the DSCC chief executive officer, the divisional commissioner, the Supreme Court’s registrar general, and the Islamic Foundation Bangladesh (IFB) director general.

An intensified security measure has been put in place in and around the Eidgah premises to ensure a peaceful gathering.

Other distinguished personalities expected at the National Eidgah include the Chief Justice of Bangladesh, cabinet members, Supreme Court judges, lawmakers, senior political leaders, foreign diplomats, and high-ranking civil and military officials.

Later in the day, President Mohammed Shahabuddin and First Lady Dr. Rebeka Sultana will host a grand reception at the Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban to mark the second-largest religious festival of Muslims.

The presidential reception is scheduled from 10:30 am to 12 pm, where the Head of State will exchange festive greetings with people from all walks of life.

President’s Press Secretary Md. Sarwar Alam confirmed that the President will also utilize the media to extend his Eid greetings to the nation and the global Muslim Ummah.

Several hundred distinguished guests and their spouses have been invited to the event.

The extensive guest list features prominent members of society, senior politicians, business leaders, academics, intellectuals, and artists.

Traditional festive delicacies will be served to the attendees during the official ceremony. Following the reception, the President will spend the remainder of the festive day celebrating privately with his family at Bangabhaban.
