PM Unveils Special Postage Stamp for FIFA World Cup 2026

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Thursday unveiled a commemorative postage stamp, a souvenir sheet with an envelope, and a five-data card to mark the grand opening of the FIFA World Cup 2026.

The Prime Minister officially released the commemorative stamp, valued at BDT 10, at his Sangsad Bhaban office on the day's morning, according to Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Jahidul Islam Rony.

In addition to the stamp, Tarique Rahman released a special souvenir sheet accompanied by an envelope priced at BDT 50, alongside a data card valued at BDT 5.

A specially designed, dedicated canceller was utilized during the inaugural ceremony to mark the historic sports event.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam, Secretary of the Ministry Bilquis Jahan Rimi, Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman and the Additional Director General of the Directorate of Posts, SM Harunur Rashid.

The global sports showpiece, the FIFA World Cup 2026, will kick off tonight (early Friday), featuring a history-making, record-expanded pool of 48 teams for the very first time.

The 23rd edition of the global football tournament is being jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada—representing the first time in football history that three sovereign nations have stepped up to co-host a FIFA World Cup
