Marking an unprecedented moment in national history, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman made a surprise visit to the Bangladesh Army's summer training exercise in Singair upazila on Tuesday, becoming the first prime minister to personally attend the seasonal field drills.

Arriving on foot at the training grounds of 8 BIR under the 9th Infantry Division, the premier spent an extended duration in the field interacting directly with personnel, according to a statement from Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Jahidul Islam Rony.

During the visit, the Prime Minister inspected the "firm base" and received operational briefings on strategic preparedness from the General Officer Commanding (GOC) and the unit's Commanding Officer (CO).

He closely followed a commander's verbal operational order and watched a live raid simulation, examining combat tactics, equipment utilization, and troop deployment methods.

Venturing into an active army bunker, he talked over battlefield maneuvers with the troops.

In a personal gesture, he approached soldiers concealed under foliage camouflage to ask about their well-being and motivate them in their assignments.

The premier later shared tea and partook in freshly cooked field rations prepared for the participating ranks.

Addressing the troops, the Prime Minister declared, "The people of Bangladesh have deep confidence in the Bangladesh Army".

He lauded the military's vital contributions during national emergencies and law enforcement duties, urging all members to uphold rigorous discipline, advanced training, and peak operational readiness while wishing the force continued success.

High-ranking officials accompanying the Prime Minister included Defence Adviser Brigadier General (retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam, Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman, and Military Secretary Major General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Tariq.
