Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia on Tuesday convened high-level bilateral talks at the secretariat in Dhaka to deepen cooperation across the transport, logistics, and port development sectors.

The discussions took place between Bangladesh's Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, Railways and Shipping, Sheikh Robiul Alam, and a visiting Saudi delegation led by Vice Minister for Transport and Logistics Dr. Rumaih bin Mohammed Al-Rumaih, according to a PID handout.

The meeting was also attended by Saudi Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr. Abdullah bin Abiyah and senior officials from both nations.

The two delegations engaged in comprehensive talks concerning port infrastructure development, maritime transport, the modernization of logistics systems, the expansion of investment opportunities, the exchange of technical skills and technology, and other matters of mutual interest.

During the session, the Shipping Minister outlined ongoing developments within Bangladesh's maritime sector, pointing to the enhanced operational capacities of Chattogram and Mongla ports, major infrastructure undertakings like the Bay Terminal, and the broad prospects available for foreign investors.

He extended a formal invitation for Saudi investors to commit capital to Bangladesh's burgeoning port and logistics industries.

In response, Dr. Rumaih bin Mohammed Al-Rumaih commended Bangladesh on its overall economic advancement and the specific progress achieved in its maritime transport sector.

He conveyed a strong desire to bolster cooperation in transport and logistics as a means to further solidify the existing friendly ties between the two countries.

Concluding the meeting, both sides shared a firm commitment to elevating bilateral relations to unprecedented heights through enhanced collaboration, the mutual exchange of professional experience and the realization of joint initiatives in the future.
