Prime Minister Tarique Rahman presented trophies and prizes to the national-level champions of the "Notun Kuri Sports 2025-26" tournament, a grassroots initiative designed to uncover talent among 12-to-14-year-old boys and girls while promoting regular athletic engagement.

Attending the grand finale this afternoon at the Bangladesh Army Stadium in the capital, the Prime Minister witnessed the concluding events and handed over awards to the top performers.

He arrived at the venue at 4 pm, receiving a resounding ovation from thousands of young sports enthusiasts as his arrival was announced.

Upon entering the stadium, PM Tarique Rahman waved to the youth, stepped onto the field to greet the players personally, and toured the arena to converse with students in the galleries, encouraging them to remain active in sports.

His interaction drew passionate cheers from more than 8,000 students in attendance.

The closing ceremony featured the boys' and girls' football championship matches alongside the 100-meter sprints for both divisions, with the Prime Minister enjoying the girls' football final and the track competitions.

Organized under the overall supervision of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the nationwide program officially commenced on May 2 at Sylhet District Stadium under the slogan "On the path to dream, With victory".

The initiative carried the central theme "Krira Hole Pesha, Paribar Pabe Bharosha (if sports becomes a profession, family will find security)".

According to event organizers, approximately 170,000 budding athletes from upazilas and districts nationwide competed in eight distinct disciplines during the regional rounds, before the top contenders advanced to the national phase hosted across various venues in the capital.
