Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Tuesday called on Japan to expand its recruitment of skilled Bangladeshi professionals while seeking stronger Tokyo-backed initiatives in manpower development, technical training, and direct investment.

The Prime Minister made the appeal during a courtesy call paid by Japanese Prime Minister's Special Advisor Uno Yoshimasa at his Secretariat office on Tuesday afternoon, according to Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Shahadat Hossain Shadhin.

The Deputy Press Secretary noted that both leaders engaged in high-level discussions aimed at bolstering the strategic partnership between Bangladesh and Japan while elevating bilateral ties to higher thresholds.

During the session, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman specifically requested Japanese authorities to facilitate structured recruitment channels for Bangladeshi healthcare professionals, agricultural workers, and drivers who possess certified Japanese language skills.

He further sought expanded technical assistance from Japan to enhance domestic workforce training and human resource capacity across multiple sectors.

Encouraging larger capital inflows from Japanese businesses, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman stated, "Bangladesh government would provide all-out support if Japan showed interest in establishing another industrial park similar to the one at Araihazar in Narayanganj."

Deputy Press Secretary Shahadat Shadhin added that the Prime Minister emphasized the necessity of mutual initiatives to scale up trade volumes and deepen economic synergies between both nations.

The discussion also encompassed key infrastructure projects, including the scheduled official launch of the Third Terminal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on December 16, as well as operational progress on ongoing Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) network expansions and broader public works collaborations.

The Bangladesh delegation featured Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Prime Minister's Adviser on Finance and Planning Dr. Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam, and Prime Minister's Special Assistant on Overseas Employment for the Asia-Pacific Region Dr. Md. Shakirul Islam Khan.

Representing Japan alongside Special Advisor Uno Yoshimasa were Nakayama Rieko, Assistant Vice Minister of Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, delegates from the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau, and Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Saida Shinichi.
