Dr Zubaida Rahman, wife of the Prime Minister, visited the Banani Military Cemetery in the capital on Thursday to pay solemn respects to her late father, former Chief of Naval Staff Rear Admiral Mahbub Ali Khan, commemorating his 42nd death anniversary.

She was accompanied during the grave visit by her sister Shahina Khan Zaman and her daughter Zaima Rahman.

To observe the occasion, floral wreaths were laid at the final resting place of the late naval chief, according to an update released by the BNP Media Cell.

Following the wreath-laying, a complete recitation of the Holy Quran was conducted alongside special prayers and a munajat, invoking divine forgiveness and eternal peace for the departed soul.

Rear Admiral Mahbub Ali Khan was appointed as the Chief of Naval Staff of the Bangladesh Navy in 1979 and subsequently held a cabinet position under President Ziaur Rahman's administration before passing away on August 6, 1984.
