Grassroots party members and key figures across the greater Chattogram area are eagerly preparing to welcome Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman during his upcoming visit to the port city on August 9.

Marking his inaugural trip to Chattogram since assuming office on February 17, the daylong itinerary features high-level project inspections, disaster recovery distributions and direct discussions with local political leaders.

The prime ministerial visit is set to begin at 9 am in Maheshkhali, Cox's Bazar, where Tarique Rahman will assess ongoing operations at the Matarbari Deep Sea Port, the Coal-fired Power Project and the Maheshkhali Integrated Development Authority (MIDA).

Following the site visits, Tarique Rahman will travel by helicopter to Baharchhara beach in Banshkhali upazila at 12 pm to take part in a government rehabilitation initiative for recent flood victims.

During the event, he will distribute relief materials and hand over keys to newly constructed housing for 100 displaced families.

Continuing his tour, Tarique Rahman will travel to Fatikchhari at 1 pm to pay a courtesy visit to Hefazat-e-Islam Ameer Allama Shah Muhibullah Babunagari at Al Jamiatul Islamia Azizul Ulum Babunagar Madrasa.

Subsequently, he will proceed to Al-Jamiatul Ahlia Darul Ulum Mainul Islam Madrasa in Hathazari upazila to offer prayers at the grave of the late Allama Shah Ahmed Shafi.

After a brief rest at the Jilla Parisad Dak Bungalow, PM Tarique Rahman will attend another rehabilitation program at the Hathazari Government College ground.

On behalf of local lawmaker and State Minister for Land Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, Tarique Rahman will present grants of BDT 100,000 to each of the 30 flood-affected families to help rebuild their homes, alongside giving BDT 10,000 to each of 15 individuals with disabilities as a gesture of goodwill.

In the evening, Tarique Rahman will preside over a major organizational meeting at the five-star Radisson Blu hotel in Chattogram city, gathering full committee members from the three regional BNP units—metropolitan, north, and south—alongside its 11 affiliated bodies.

This session will provide grassroots representatives a direct platform to share local perspectives and receive formal directives. Tarique Rahman is scheduled to fly back to Dhaka later that night at 9:20 pm.

Reflecting on the scheduled itinerary, State Minister for Land and Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin stated that PM Tarique Rahman is consistently focused on the welfare of the nation and its citizens, remaining dedicated to finding ways to alleviate the hardships faced by the general populace and to enhance the state's responsiveness to the needs of the people.

Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin added that Tarique Rahman mandated the swift rehabilitation of those affected by the floods in the Chattogram region and the reconstruction of their damaged homes, noting that while the government is constructing physical housing in Banshkhali, other upazilas are receiving necessary direct financial assistance.

Regarding the political meeting, Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin remarked that party chairman Tarique Rahman consistently assesses the grassroots leaders and activists as the essential foundation of the party, pointing out that direct interactions with metropolitan, north and south units reflect Tarique Rahman's political philosophy of advancing both the country and the party through inclusivity.

Commenting on the gathering, Chattogram Metropolitan BNP Member Secretary Nazimur Rahman stated that official notification had been received regarding Tarique Rahman convening the organizational meeting with Chattogram leaders and activists.

Nazimur Rahman explained that while criteria stipulate attendance for current post-holders within BNP and its affiliated bodies, several veteran leaders who do not currently hold formal positions but have served the party long-term will also receive special invitations.

Southern District BNP Member Secretary Lion Helal Uddin noted that although no public rally is planned for the Banshkhali relief distribution, thousands of well-wishers are still expected to gather to see Tarique Rahman due to his immense popularity.
