Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived in Matarbari, located within Maheshkhali Upazila of Cox’s Bazar, via helicopter on Sunday morning to conduct an inspection of the Matarbari deep-sea port alongside multiple ongoing infrastructure initiatives.

The aircraft conveying the Prime Minister touched down at a helipad adjacent to Matarbari at approximately 10:52 am, according to his accompanying Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon.

"The Prime Minister has reached Matarbari. He will inspect the activities of the deep-sea port and several other projects here," he confirmed.

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit formally received the Prime Minister upon his arrival.

The executive delegation accompanying the Prime Minister includes Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed and Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmood, among other officials.

The Prime Minister and his entourage had previously departed Tejgaon Airport in the capital via helicopter at 9:15 am.

During his itinerary in Matarbari, the Prime Minister is slated to evaluate the operational status of the deep-sea port, the coal-fired power plant, and various initiatives managed under the Maheshkhali Integrated Development Authority.

The trip marks Tarique Rahman’s first official visit to Matarbari following his assumption of the prime ministership.

Upon concluding his engagements in Matarbari, the Prime Minister will travel to flood-impacted regions within Chattogram district to participate in relief and rehabilitation measures for affected residents.

He will attend a rehabilitation ceremony at the West Banshkhali High School and College grounds in Baharchhara Union under Banshkhali Upazila, where newly constructed homes will be formally transferred to displaced families.

Subsequently, the Prime Minister will travel to Fatikchhari to hold a meeting with Hefazat-e-Islam Ameer Allama Shah Muhibullah Babunagari at the Al-Jamiatul Islamia Azizul Ulum Babunagar Madrasah.

At approximately 3:15 pm, PM Tarique Rahman will visit the Al-Jamiatul Ahlia Darul Uloom Moinul Islam madrasah located in Hathazari to offer respects at the grave of the late Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi.

Following his visit to the madrasah, he will participate in another flood recovery event scheduled for 5 pm at the Hathazari Government College grounds.

Later in the evening, the Prime Minister, in his role as BNP Chairman, is scheduled to preside over an organizational session with local BNP leaders and activists at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Chattogram Bay View.

Upon completing his scheduled itinerary, he will board a flight from Shah Amanat International Airport at approximately 9:30 pm to return to Dhaka.
