Addressing a special durbar at Bangabhaban on Thursday, President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir called upon all officials and employees to discharge their duties with sincerity, integrity and professionalism.

Reflecting on his transition to the country's highest office, the President noted that he resigned from all political positions prior to assuming the presidency, making him a completely non-partisan individual.

“You know that I resigned from the positions and memberships I held before assuming the office of the President. I am now a completely non-partisan person,” he stated, emphasizing that his sole objective and goal is dedicated entirely to "my country and its people."

He urged all officials to work collectively for the nation's welfare.

Invoking historical milestones, the President recalled the Liberation War of 1971 and paid deep respects to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Bangladesh’s independence.

He also acknowledged the contributions of the nation’s founding leaders and successive presidents who previously served from Bangabhaban.

Describing Bangabhaban as one of the most critical institutions in the country carrying a heavy responsibility for safeguarding national sovereignty and independence, he added, “Our responsibility will be to work together so that we can further strengthen the country’s independence, sovereignty and democratic institutions.”

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir instructed officials and employees to uphold love, respect, and loyalty toward the country and its citizens, while maintaining personal discipline, moral values, and good character. He stressed the necessity of earning and preserving public confidence through strict professional conduct.

Highlighting institutional security and financial prudence, the President issued explicit directives regarding state secrecy and resource management.

“Bangabhaban’s day-to-day activities and all matters related to important state decisions must be kept strictly confidential so that national security is not compromised in any way,” he warned.

Furthermore, he called for transparency and accountability in public spending, stating, “All government expenditure must be made carefully and responsibly. We must remain conscious so that public money is not wasted,” and urged that state resources and facilities be utilized properly.

Balancing professional duties with personal well-being, the President advised government employees to dedicate sufficient time to their families and loved ones to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Concluding his address, the President thanked the staff for their cooperation in ensuring his oath-taking ceremony and other programs were organized smoothly and with dignity, while also expressing gratitude to those who arranged the durbar.

“We are one family here. We will have opportunities to work together, discuss issues and try to resolve the problems that may arise,” he said.
