Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has called for a unified, international-standard training and certification framework to elevate youth employability and global recognition, issuing the directive while chairing the third meeting of the National Skills Development Authority governing body at his Tejgaon office, according to assistant press secretary KM Nazmul Haque.

Asserting that youth capability expansion remains vital, the Prime Minister noted that cross-ministerial training dispersion without centralized coordination undermines certificate utility.

As he stated, "Although many training programmes are being conducted under different ministries to this end, these training programmes and certificates are often failing to play an effective role due to a lack of proper coordination."

He added, "As a result, our younger generation is not receiving the desired recognition at the national and international levels against these certificates."

Emphasizing the strategic function of the authority, he observed that "If a unified and internationally standard training and certification system is introduced, it will not only enhance the skills of our youth but also increase their acceptance and recognition in the national and international job markets," further noting that "It is also an important platform for increasing demand for Bangladesh's skilled workforce in the international job market."

To resolve fragmentation, the Prime Minister instructed the governing body to establish a compact committee for swift policy formulation, integrating multi-ministerial training initiatives under a unified syllabus and coordinated administrative umbrella.

The session featured operational briefings regarding administrative architecture, staffing, and mandates, alongside policy papers, sector-specific demand evaluations, tiered action planning, and mutual certification recognition standards.

High-level attendees included Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, public administration adviser Md Ismail Zabihullah, Industries Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir, Education Minister Dr. A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon, Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment and Labour and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Choudhury, and prime minister advisor and prime minister office spokesperson Mahdi Amin. State Minister for Public Administration Md Abdul Bari, State Minister for Youth and Sports Md. Aminul Haque, principal secretary A B M Abdus Sattar, investment development authority executive chairman Chowdhury Ashik Chowdhury, sustainable development goals principal coordinator Prof Dr SM Abdul Awal, authority executive chairman Dr. Nazneen Kawshar Chowdhury, and various ministry secretaries and senior officials also participated.
