The Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Guwahati marked the first anniversary of late Assamese singer-songwriter Zubeen Garg's passing on Saturday via a verified Facebook tribute, commemorating an extraordinary artist who died at age 52 in Singapore on September 19, 2025—subsequently ruled an accidental drowning by a Singapore state coroner with no foul play.

Recalling his ties to Bangladesh, the mission highlighted his memorable performance at its 2022 National Day celebration hosted at ITA Machkhowa in Guwahati, noting that "his powerful voice and captivating presence made that evening truly unforgettable."

Emphasizing art as a bridge for cross-border cultural affinity between India and Bangladesh, the commission stated, "his voice may have fallen silent, but his music will live forever in the hearts of countless admirers."

Across Assam, fans, family members, and fellow artists observed the primary anniversary alongside a three-day observance at his Kamarkuchi memorial near Guwahati, prompting the Bangladesh mission to conclude that Garg remains "forever in our hearts."
