While visiting New York to attend the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has engaged in a series of bilateral and sideline meetings with heads of government and ministerial-level representatives, alongside his high-level schedule.

Discussions during these meetings focused on strengthening friendly relations between Bangladesh and the respective nations, expanding trade and investment, boosting economic and development cooperation, and enhancing collaboration on issues of mutual interest, according to the Prime Minister's Assistant Press Secretary, AKM Nazmul Haque.

On September 23, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held a bilateral meeting with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković at the UN Headquarters in New York.

The talks centered on further consolidating bilateral ties and expanding cooperation in potential sectors such as trade and investment, economic partnership, skilled manpower, education, and technology.

Both sides also underscored the importance of enhancing cooperation in multilateral forums, including the UN, and coordinating on matters of shared international interest.

The Prime Minister also held a bilateral meeting with Thailand's Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. The two leaders exchanged views on issues of mutual interest and ways to propel bilateral relations forward. Notably, in the UN General Debate on September 24, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman delivered his address immediately following Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.

Additionally, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman met with Sweden's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Maria Malmer Stenergard. On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session, issues concerning health and development cooperation between Bangladesh and Sweden received significant focus.

At a high-level event organized by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), both nations renewed their commitment to strengthening the role of midwifery in primary healthcare and expanding cooperation in maternal and newborn healthcare services.

Overall, the bilateral discussions emphasized deepening cooperation in areas of mutual interest, expanding economic partnerships, boosting trade and investment, and strengthening coordination in international and multilateral arenas.

These engagements during the Prime Minister's New York tour are creating opportunities to further broaden Bangladesh's existing relations with various countries while fostering greater collaboration in trade, investment, economic cooperation, and the international stage.
