Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah held bilateral talks on Friday (Local Time) to discuss increasing manpower exports to Kuwait, expanding trade and investment and enhancing economic cooperation between the two nations.

The engagement took place at the Kuwait Permanent Mission in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

Throughout the session, the two leaders exchanged perspectives on multiple subjects of shared concern, prioritizing the recruitment of more Bangladeshi workers for Kuwait, the growth of bilateral trade and the consolidation of economic partnerships.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman recalled the longstanding friendship between Bangladesh and Kuwait, highlighting the historic contributions of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia toward advancing bilateral ties and deepening mutual cooperation.

He noted that the foundation of mutual respect, goodwill, and partnership established during their tenure has expanded continuously over the decades.

The prime minister emphasized the necessity of further deepening and broadening these historic ties to deliver mutual benefits to the populations of both countries.

Furthermore, the two leaders deliberated on several regional and global affairs, underscoring the importance of ongoing communication, cooperation, and strategic coordination on matters of joint interest.

The prime minister advocated for elevating high-level contacts between the political leaderships of Bangladesh and Kuwait, alongside expanding joint ventures across economic, trade, investment, manpower and other emerging sectors.

Both leaders concluded by reaffirming their pledge to strengthen existing cooperation for the prosperity of both nations.
