Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paid a courtesy call on President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at the Bangabhaban on Tuesday afternoon.

Upon the Prime Minister's arrival at the presidential palace at 3 pm, the President received him at the Octagonal and introduced his Military Secretary, Secretary, and Press Secretary to the Head of Government, according to President's Press Secretary Md. Sarwar Alam.

During their audience, the Prime Minister briefed the President on his recent official tour to the United States, his participation in the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session, and his high-level sideline meetings with heads of state, senior UN dignitaries, and economic and development partners.

He also provided a comprehensive overview of the administration's broader ongoing operations and governance activities.

The President extended his congratulations to the Prime Minister regarding his address before the 81st UNGA session, characterizing the speech as "visionary, resolute and guiding."

He noted that the address effectively reflected Bangladesh's core national interests and aspirations while lucidly articulating the country's official stances on major international affairs.

The President expressed confidence that the Prime Minister's address and strategic engagement on the sidelines of the UN Assembly would serve to elevate Bangladesh's international standing and prestige.

"The visit played an important role in further consolidating and strengthening Bangladesh's position in the international arena, protecting public interests, and expanding bilateral and multilateral relations," he remarked.

The two state leaders further exchanged perspectives on diverse matters concerning national governance and public interest.

Concluding the meeting, the President conveyed his appreciation to the Prime Minister for visiting Bangabhaban.

The engagement marked the Prime Minister's first formal meeting at the presidential residence since President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir assumed office.
