
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman delivered a clear message regarding Bangladesh's democratic advancement and the vision for building a humane nation during the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, stated Dr. Mahdi Amin, Adviser and Spokesperson to the Prime Minister's Office.
He made these remarks on Wednesday afternoon (September 30) during a press conference held at the 'Korobi' hall of the Prime Minister's Office in Tejgaon, detailing the Prime Minister's recent tour to New York.
Democratic Vision: The Prime Minister highlighted Bangladesh's democratic progress and emphasized the creation of a humane nation to world leaders, receiving congratulations from various heads of state as a significant achievement for the country.
Rohingya Crisis: Mentioning that the Prime Minister put forward five specific proposals to resolve the Rohingya crisis, Amin stressed that Myanmar must solve this crisis, while global leaders commended Bangladesh's generosity in sheltering refugees for so long.
Global Diplomacy: During his four-day tour, the Prime Minister held bilateral meetings with 11 countries, discussed manpower export to Muslim nations, and outlined a roadmap for a self-reliant Bangladesh while advocating strongly for Palestine.
Institutional Engagements: The UN Secretary-General congratulated the elected government, discussions covered human rights protections over the past seven months, and World Bank meetings reviewed social programs like family cards alongside talks with Boeing to expand the national airline fleet.
The press conference was attended by Press Secretary Saleh Shibli, Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon, and other members of the Prime Minister's Press Wing.
