PM Orders Fast-Tracking of Dhaka Inner Circular Road Project

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Sunday instructed the relevant authorities to fast-track the Inner Circular Road initiative designed to alleviate severe traffic congestion across Dhaka city.

The directive was issued during a review session on the construction progress of the Inner Circular Road, held at the Cabinet Division within the Bangladesh Secretariat, according to PM’s Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Shiplu.

The Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges alongside the Local Government Division to jointly evaluate the current project framework and implement measures to accelerate execution.

He emphasized the urgency of pinpointing and eliminating current bottlenecks hindering implementation, fostering seamless inter-agency coordination, and establishing a feasible timeline for completion.

PM Tarique Rahman further urged official bodies to demonstrate tangible progress on the project within the shortest possible timeframe.

The high-level meeting was attended by Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, Railways, and Shipping Shaikh Rabiul Alam, State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives Mir Shahe Alam, State Minister for Road Transport and Bridges and Railways Habibur Rashid Habib, Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Abdus Salam, Dhaka North City Corporation Administrator Safiqul Islam Khan, alongside senior officials representing the associated ministries and departments.
