
The government honored 102 distinguished educators on Monday to commemorate World Teachers' Day 2026.
Teachers representing various tiers of the nation's academic system received accolades in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the teaching profession and national advancement.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman presented an official certificate, an honorary crest, and a monetary grant of Taka 200,000 to each recipient during a ceremony organized by the Ministry of Education at Osmani Memorial Auditorium this afternoon.
World Teachers' Day is being celebrated across the country, joining global observances to acknowledge the pivotal role of educators in nation-building while highlighting the necessity of safeguarding their dignity, rights, and continuous professional growth.
Among the 102 honored educators, 10 represent the primary education sector, 20 hail from secondary institutions, 25 were selected from colleges, 20 belong to general universities, 10 represent medical colleges and healthcare universities, three come from agricultural universities, three hail from engineering institutions, and four represent other specialized universities.
Additionally, seven distinguished teachers selected directly by the Prime Minister were conferred honors during the event.
