Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has stated that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) was incorrect in his remarks regarding "crossfire," reiterating that the government maintains a zero-tolerance stance on the issue.
The minister made these comments in a post shared on his verified Facebook page on Tuesday (October 27).
Rejecting the statements made by IGP Md. Ali Hossain Fakir regarding "crossfire," Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed clarified that the government does not support crossfire and instead enforces a strict zero-tolerance policy against it.
Noting that the IGP spoke inadvertently, the Home Minister remarked, "That was inappropriate and should not have been said."
Speaking to the media on Tuesday evening, the Home Minister further emphasized that the government will not tolerate extrajudicial killings or deaths in police custody under any circumstances.
He added that establishing the rule of law and improving law and order remain the primary priorities of the government.
