Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia said, back of traffic police has stuck with the wall. We stand on the dock if accident occurs but cannot answer. As bus a is seized for occurring accident, like that detain pedestrians if they become reason of the accidents.
He said these at a view exchange meeting on discipline and consciousness about traffic rules at Mohanagar Natyamancha at Gulistan in the capital on Thursday.
The DMP Commissioner said, we have to take some steps for maintaining traffic system. We repeatedly said but no result has come. Now we have to go for applying laws strictly. Legal action will be taken against pedestrians if they become reason of accidents.
He said, detain the pedestrians if they become reason of accidents. Detain the persons and show the media, show the people of the country that risking their lives, by not using foot over bridge, by not using zebra crossing while crossing the road they are occurring accidents.
At that time the DMP Commissioner talked about the accident that took place two days ago. He said, the bus that pushed Abrar, a student of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), had no route permit. There were 27 cases against the bus.
He also acknowledged that police have failed to bring discipline in the transport management system in the capital.
