Accident at Toll Plaza
Bus Driver Reveals Cause Behind Accident
The bus involved in the accident that killed six people at the toll plaza in Kuchiyapara area of the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway had brake issues, and the driver was a drug user.
On Saturday (December 28), Senior Assistant Police Superintendent of RAB-10, Tapas Karmakar provided this information based on the bus driver's statement.
He stated that the bus had been out of order for a long time. After repairs, it was put back on the road on the same day. The driver realized from the start that the brakes had problems. When he informed the owner, he was told to drive slowly. The driver claimed that despite applying the brakes multiple times during the accident, the bus could not be stopped.
In preliminary questioning, the bus driver, Mohammad Nur Uddin (26), told RAB that his license was not renewed and he used to consume marijuana. However, he claimed he was not under the influence of drugs while driving on Friday.
Earlier on Friday night, the bus driver, Mohammad Nur Uddin, was arrested from Siddhirganj in Narayanganj. On the same day, at around 11 am, six people were killed when the bus hit a stationary motorcycle and a microbus at the toll plaza on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway.
