A Dhaka court has ordered the seizure of 28 bighas of land and 19 bank accounts owned by Arifa Jesmin, wife of former State Minister for Telecommunications and Information Technology, Zunaid Ahmed Palak.
On Tuesday (February 18), Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md. Zakir Hossain Galib issued the order following a petition by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). Additionally, the court imposed a travel ban on Arifa Jesmin.
According to the ACC's petition, there is a risk that the immovable and movable properties under Arifa Jesmin's name could be transferred or sold. To ensure a fair investigation, the court deemed it necessary to seize her assets and restrict access to her bank accounts. The court also found it essential to impose a travel ban to prevent any potential interference with the investigation.
ACC Assistant Director Aminul Islam informed the court that ACC Assistant Director Minhaj Bin Islam had filed two separate petitions regarding the matter. Following the hearing, the court approved both petitions.
Earlier on December 12, the ACC filed a case against Zunaid Ahmed Palak and his wife, Arifa Jesmin.
