
Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of renowned folk singer Farida Parveen.
In a condolence message on Saturday night, he stated that although Farida Parveen sang various genres including Nazrul Sangeet and patriotic songs, she was known to listeners as the 'Lalon-kanya'.
For five decades, her renditions of Lalon Sai's songs touched people's hearts. He added that her music also elevated the underlying philosophy and existentialism of our culture to a new level.
The Chief Adviser further said that despite numerous challenges, Farida Parveen never strayed from her music. Her dedication to music will inspire generations to come.
The contributions of this Ekushey Padak-winning artist to the music scene of Bangladesh will be forever remembered and will provide a source of new ideas and creations in the cultural sphere.
Dr. Muhammad Yunus prayed for the salvation of Farida Parveen's soul and extended his profound condolences to her bereaved family.
Farida Parveen passed away while undergoing treatment on Saturday at 10:15 PM. She was 71 years old at the time of her death.
