
A deployment of 90,000 Army personnel will be made to maintain law and order surrounding the upcoming national parliamentary election.
Concurrently, more than 2,500 Navy personnel and some Air Force personnel will also be deployed. Furthermore, one company of Army personnel will be stationed in every upazila (sub-district).
The heads of the three forces briefed the Chief Adviser on all preparations for the election during a meeting held at the State Guest House Jamuna on Saturday night (November 1).
During the meeting, the Chief Adviser provided necessary instructions to the three service chiefs to ensure impenetrable security and a peaceful conduct of the national election, which is scheduled to be held in the first half of February.
He stated that the interim government is committed to making the election, set for the first half of February, free, fair, impartial, peaceful, and festive.
Chief Adviser Commends Armed Forces
In the meeting, Dr. Yunus also commended the members of the armed forces for their hard work in maintaining national security and law and order across the country. He noted that members of the Army and all other forces have worked extremely hard to maintain law and order over the past 15 months.
The three service chiefs also extended an invitation to the Chief Adviser to attend the Armed Forces Day celebrations scheduled for November 21.
