
The Appellate Division has declared illegal the previous ruling that abolished the highly debated non-partisan Caretaker Government system for election periods.
Simultaneously, the country's highest court reinstated the Caretaker Government system in the Constitution by declaring the Thirteenth Amendment valid.
Today (Thursday) at 9:40 AM, the full seven-member bench of the Appellate Division, led by Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed, delivered this historic verdict.
The other six justices on the bench were—Justice Md. Ashfaqul Islam, Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury, Justice Md.
Rezaul Haudhury, Justice S M Emdadul Hoque, Justice A K M Asaduzzaman, and Justice Farah Mabub.
The courtroom of the Appellate Division was packed to the brim with lawyers and media personnel during the announcement of the verdict.
