
Bangladesh delegation is participating in the 21st Session of General Conference of UNIDO, which is being held in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 23-27 November 2025.
This year’s theme of the Conference is “Global Industrial Summit 2025”. Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam is heading the delegation.
In his statement, Foreign Secretary highlighted how countries like Bangladesh facing new challenges in the destination markets including market access and technology transfer.
He stressed all sorts of new pre-requisites that are coming up in the destination markets, hampering the industrial expansion, value addition in the supply chains in the developing countries and warned if tariff and NTBs are not softened; poverty reduction, job creation or, climbing up the manufacturing ladder would remain distant dreams for the emerging economies.
He urged to adequately fund and allocate resources to the UNIDO, so that it could help industrialization of the global South.
He welcomed UNIDO’s cooperation with the Member States to promote environmental sustainability, climate resilience, waste management, and circular economy, and appreciated UNIDO’s support to Bangladesh.
