The Omani Ambassador to Bangladesh, Jamil Haji Ismail Al Balushi, held a courtesy meeting with State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obayed Islam at her office yesterday.

During the discussions held on Sunday (May 10), the State Minister commended Oman’s leadership for its constructive role in maintaining peace and stability within the Middle East.

The Omani Ambassador extended formal congratulations from his government to the BNP-led Bangladeshi administration following their victory in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

Both representatives explored avenues to further strengthen diplomatic relations and expand cooperation in several key sectors, including:

Labor Migration and Regional Support
The State Minister expressed appreciation to the Omani government for hosting a large community of Bangladeshi expatriates.

She reaffirmed the Bangladesh government’s "zero-tolerance" policy against illegal migration, emphasizing that the nation’s priority is the deployment of skilled and semi-skilled workers.

This strategy aims to ensure that migrants contribute effectively to the economies of both the host country and Bangladesh.

Furthermore, the State Minister conveyed her gratitude for Oman’s support of Bangladesh’s candidacy for the Presidency of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (PGA81).
