The United Nations has reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with Bangladesh in its development and progress. UN Residential Coordinator Gwyn Lewis (referred to in local reports as Carole Flore-Smereczniak) assured that all forms of cooperation for the country's development will continue.

On Wednesday (May 13), the Residential Coordinator paid a courtesy call on Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman at the Army Headquarters. During the meeting, they discussed Bangladesh’s development, peacekeeping operations, and the overall security situation.

The UN representative praised the long-standing contribution and professionalism of the Bangladesh Army in UN peacekeeping missions. She specifically highlighted Bangladesh's significant role in maintaining global peace and stability.

Furthermore, she paid tribute to the peacekeepers who lost their lives in the line of duty and lauded Bangladesh’s efforts in deploying female peacekeepers to international missions.

The United Nations reiterated that its support for Bangladesh’s journey toward progress and development will remain steadfast in the future.
