Panchagarh records season’s lowest temperature at 5.8°C
The lowest temperature of the season was recorded in Panchagarh’s Tetulia at 5.8C at 6am on Friday (Jan 26).
Earlier on Jan 23, the lowest temperature of the season was recorded at 6.6C in Chuadanga and Sirajganj.
Public life is disrupted by the shivering cold, further intensified by dense fog and the freezing northern air. Vehicles are moving with headlights on.
Rokonuzzaman, an observer of the Tentulia weather observatory center, told Somoy that the country’s lowest temperature was recorded at 6am in Tetulia. The same temperature was recorded at 9am.
According to the sources of the Meteorological Department, 2018 has been the coldest in recent years. On Jan 8 of that year, the temperature dropped to 2.6C in Panchagarh's Tentulia, which is the lowest temperature recorded in the history of Bangladesh.
However, the lowest temperature recorded in Dinajpur was 3.8C in 1996.
Besides, in 2019, a temperature of 4.9C was recorded in Tentulia, 4.5C was recorded in Jashore on Jan 12, 2011, and 5C was recorded in Kurigram in 2017.
