The BNP public rally marking International Democracy Day has begun in front of the party’s Nayapaltan central office with the participation of thousands of leaders and activists of the party and its associate bodies.

The rally formally began around 2:30 pm on Tuesday (September 17) with the recitation from the holy Quran.

It has been seen that the cultural program is going on at the assembly stage. The leaders and activists of BNP's cultural organization JASAS are performing various patriotic songs including the party anthem "Prothom Bangladesh Amar Shesh Bangladesh, Jibon Bangladesh Amar Moron Bangladesh, Bangladesh Bangladesh Bangladesh."

Apart from this, a digital display has been installed behind the assembly stage. Pictures of party founder Ziaur Rahman, chairperson Khaleda Zia, and acting chairman Tariq Rahman are adorned there.

BNP leaders and activists started gathering in front of their party office with party flags, banners, and festoons around noon to join the rally. They were chanting various slogans.

A traffic jam has been created in Nayapaltan, and Fakirapool area around the rally. Due to the construction of the stage on the road and the location of party leaders and workers, the traffic on Nayapaltan VIP road has been limited. Only one lane of the road allows vehicle movement.

It is known that Tariq Rahman, acting chairman of BNP, spoke as the chief guest at the rally. The party's general secretary Mirza Fakhrul Islam presided over the rally. Apart from this, the leaders of the party's standing committee also addressed the rally.

Incidentally, BNP fixed the date of the rally on September 15. However, due to inclement weather, the rally date was rescheduled to September 17.
