Metrorail Operates for First Time on Friday
Metrorail should run on Friday, this is a long-standing demand of city dwellers. Finally, that demand was fulfilled. Metro is running today (Friday) for the first time after its inauguration. Passengers are very happy with it.
It is known that today at 3:30 pm, the metro rail left Uttara North station for Motijheel. And through this, the metro will run seven days a week from now.
Confirming the matter, the Director (Operation) of Metrorail Management Authority Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited, Nasir Uddin Ahmed told the media that Metro services were launched from Uttara North at 3:30 in the afternoon.
Meanwhile, commuters were happy to ride the Metrorail for the first time on Friday. As it was a holiday, the stations were very crowded. At the same time, many passengers have expressed their gratitude for reopening Kazipara station, which was affected by the clashes during the anti-discrimination student movement. It opened today.
A passenger named Zakir Hossain said that there was a long-time demand to run metro rail on Friday. Feels pretty good.
Another passenger named Al-Amin said I was preparing to board the bus on the road to go to Motijheel when I saw the metro running. So, without delay, I bought a ticket for the metro to get rid of the traffic jam. Now I will go to the destination without suffering. It feels good to think. Thanks to the authorities.
It is seen at various stations that passengers are leaving for their respective destinations after buying tickets with relatives or loved ones. And the pressure on passengers is increasing with time. But no complaints.
DMTCL Managing Director Mohammad Abdur Rauf told the media that we started today. Let's collect some data, how is the impact on Friday? How many passengers traveling? Our target is to run Metrorail every three and a half minutes after. We are moving towards that goal, to make Metrorail commercially viable.
Incidentally, the Metrorail was inaugurated on 28 December 2022, and opened for the public the next day.
