Two people were killed and two others critically injured in a head-on collision between a microbus and a CNG-run auto rickshaw in Anwara upazila of Chattogram on Saturday morning.
The accident took place around 8:00 am in the Mazar Gate area on the Anwara-Banshkhali PAB road. The identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed.
The injured, identified as Alomgir (28) and Brishna Dash (29) from Banshkhali upazila, were rushed to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) after receiving initial treatment.
According to eyewitnesses, the auto rickshaw was carrying passengers from Chambol in Banshkhali when it collided head-on with a city-bound microbus near Mazar Gate. Two passengers died on the spot, while the others sustained severe injuries.
Dr Mahatab Uddin Chowdhury, Health and Family Planning Officer of Anwara, said both injured individuals were sent to CMCH for advanced medical care.
Anwara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Monir Hossain stated that police arrived promptly at the scene, removed the damaged auto rickshaw, and initiated legal procedures regarding the incident.
