A mild earthquake with a magnitude of 3.4 struck the northern district of Thakurgaon on Sunday morning (January 25). The tremor occurred at 8:34 AM, centered approximately 33 kilometers east of the district headquarters.

According to Volcano Discovery, a website tracking seismic activity and volcanic eruptions, the exact depth of the quake has not yet been determined, though it is suspected to have been a shallow tremor.

While the site noted that many people in the region likely did not notice the event, local reports suggest otherwise.

Despite reports that the tremor went largely unnoticed, many residents of Thakurgaon took to social media to share their experiences. Numerous Facebook users reported feeling a distinct jolt, with some describing the shaking as surprisingly "strong."

This event follows a similar occurrence earlier this month. On January 5, a tremor was felt in the Sylhet region at approximately 4:47 AM. That quake lasted for several seconds and was felt across several areas, including:

• Sylhet City: Zindabazar, Upashahar, Amberkhana, Tilagarh, and Shahparan.
• Surrounding Areas: Dakshin Surma, Jaintiapur, and Companiganj upazilas.

No immediate reports of damage or casualties have been received following the Thakurgaon tremor.
