An operative holding the rank of sub-inspector (SI) attached to the Special Branch (SB) of the police was lynched to death purportedly by a band of attackers stemming from a dispute over the parking arrangement of a private automobile situated outside his son's apparel manufacturing unit in Aminbazar, Savar, during Saturday night.

The victim was recognized as SI Altaf Hossain, aged 58, who was stationed within the City SB (Marketing Intelligence) division of Dhaka, and who was the progeny of the late Juran Ali Sheikh originating from Rupnai Gachpara village falling under the jurisdiction of Enayetpur Police Station in Sirajganj.

The altercation transpired at approximately 8:30 pm inside the Baradeshi Madina Housing Sector of Aminbazar.

As indicated by the City SB, an assembly comprising roughly 20 to 25 individuals assaulted Altaf alongside his younger son Ariful Islam, aged 26, directly outside the garment facility operated by Altaf’s eldest son Sharif, aged 33, revolving around the parking of a personal motor vehicle at the location, which inflicted injuries upon them.

The wounded parties were conveyed to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital, wherein attending physicians pronounced Altaf deceased at approximately 9:18 pm, the report stated, adding that Ariful continues to receive medical intervention at the facility.

Altaf resided alongside his household within the Madina Housing locale.

Additional Superintendent of Police representing the Savar Model Police Station Md Jahangir Alam communicated that law enforcement detained a suspect, identified as Zahurul Islam, aged 30, early Sunday concerning the homicide.

He noted that Zahurul, the offspring of Moslem Uddin, was apprehended around 4:30 am.

Authorities noted that Altaf operated as a lessee at a residential property belonging to Md Alamin within the identical neighborhood and additionally possessed a five-decimal parcel of land there, upon which the modest apparel workshop had been set up.

Neighborhood resident Abul Kalam Azad stated that the confrontation materialized subsequent to a disagreement regarding the parking of a vehicle directly in front of the garment factory.
