Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) alongside local villagers successfully thwarted an attempt by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) on Sunday night to infiltrate 20 to 25 individuals across the international border into Bangladesh through the Gobindapur frontier zone located in Dinajpur’s Birampur upazila.
Residents reported observing a gathering of 20 to 25 Indian citizens positioned near Border Pillar No. 289/46-S situated beneath the Daudpur Border Outpost (BOP) managed by the BGB 29th Battalion within Katla Union at approximately 11 pm, prompting locals to mobilize with batons upon suspecting BSF involvement in a forced push-in operation.
Upon receiving intelligence regarding the movement, a BGB patrol detachment dispatched from the Daudpur BOP rapidly arrived at the location.
Daudpur Camp Commander Mahabur Rahman stated that the BSF unlocked a gate within the security perimeter fencing around 11 pm and tried to maneuver the group across the Bangladeshi border.
“Locals noticed the incident and chased them. When the BSF noticed the presence of the BGB patrol team, it was forced to take the Indian nationals back,” he explained.
He confirmed that no trace of Indian citizens remained visible along the boundary line by Monday morning.
