
A fifty-year-old homemaker was slaughtered by unidentified assailants within her residence at Kalagazipara in Cox’s Bazar district's Maheshkhali upazila on Monday evening.
Authorities identified the victim as Rani Shil, married to local resident Robi Shil.
Maheshkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdus Sultan, citing accounts provided by relatives, stated that an intrusion occurred around 7 pm when the woman was unattended indoors, during which a band of wrongdoers forced their way into the premises.
The perpetrators proceeded to inflict multiple stab wounds upon Rani indiscriminately, inflicting severe trauma that rendered her in critical condition.
Emergency responders conveyed her to the Chakaria Upazila Health Complex, where attending physicians pronounced her dead upon arrival.
Law enforcement personnel deployed to the location immediately following receipt of the notification.
The officer-in-charge added that inquiries into the homicide are actively underway.
The couple resided independently at the dwelling while their offspring stay in Chattogram and Dhaka to pursue their academic endeavors.
