Remittance inflows to Bangladesh have maintained a strong momentum, with expatriates sending $2.13 billion in the first 18 days of February. On average, the country is receiving approximately $120 million daily.
If this trend continues, total remittances for February are expected to surpass the $3 billion mark, despite it being a shorter month. This would mark the third consecutive month of exceeding $3 billion, following similar performances in December and January.
Comparative Growth and Fiscal Trends
According to data from Bangladesh Bank, remittance inflows during the same period in February last year stood at $1.67 billion. This year’s figures represent an increase of $460 million, a growth of 27.53%.
Last fiscal year saw an overall remittance growth of $6.42 billion, or 26.83%. The all-time monthly record remains $3.30 billion, set in March last year due to the surge in transfers ahead of Ramadan and Eid.
